In essence, it is no different than writing any other letter, yet too often the same care that we take in preparing a handwritten or printed document is abandoned when it comes to electronic mail. Written in 1994 but still very much applicable today, here are some of my personal guidelines on composing, replying to, and giving importance to this most essential element of Internet communication.
